A portrait of my friend Samantha's backyard. She just moved into her house last weekend, and we went over to check it out and grill burgers in the backyard. The pink sky was inspired by two things. 1. It was near sunset. 2. I have a large painting in progress, with just an under-painting done. The sky in that painting is pink right now, but won't be in the final painting. However several people have told me that they like the pink sky. Upon reflection, I've decided I do too. I think this will show up in more paintings to come. After the sun set we went out front and looked up to the sky to check out the space station—it was glowing like a giant star low in the western night sky.
