6.27.11 Mini Moon Flowers

This is a tiny little painting, just 2.5" x 4.5", in gouache and black ink.
My husband came up with the name "moon flowers." They are not based on any real plant.

6.26.11 Polka Dot Plant

This is Lucy's polka dot plant. I went over to take a few photos of Prairie Smoke and Birch after she had it hung in her dining room, and also took a few reference photos of her plants.

6.24.11, Diana & a Hound

I saw the statue Diana and a Hound by Paul Manship at the National Gallery a couple of years ago. I also love his Dancer and Gazelles.
This painting was a struggle for me. I started with gouache, switched to acrylic, and finished with oils. I painted over the written in title, then wrote it back in again.

6.23.11, June Birth Flower

This is a little product development experimentation for Commemorate The Date. It's gesso (white paint) and graphite on green paper. The birth flower for June is rose, or honeysuckle, according to

6.22.11 Orange Jasmine

This one took a couple of days to dry, so now I have drying time built into my posting schedule.
It's done in water soluble oils, with graphite drawn in on top while the paint was still wet. The inspiration was a beautiful image of orange jasmine that I found when I was searching out reference for Interior Garden, Chennai.

Summer Solstice, 2011

A painting a day, round two. I've decided to do my summer daily painting project again. The first day of summer was rainy and stormy here in Minneapolis.
