I did this composition of algae (microscopic) and tadpoles (not microscopic) over an old oil painting that I never liked. I was listening to the radio as I worked on it and heard that it was "America Recycles" day (or maybe recycle week?), so that was fitting that I was reusing a canvas.
It was fun to work in thick, straight oil paint, and to think more about the color and the brush strokes than the rendering of the subject matter.
I am an artist living and working in Minneapolis, MN. I studied illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I do a little freelance illustration and also sell my work from my studio and at art fairs. I work part time as a graphic designer as well.
My husband, son, and I live in the Longfellow neighborhood.
